Where to get Crossing-the-bridge-noodle soup in Edmonton

Calling all noodle soup lovers, you must try crossing-the-bridge-noodle-soup if you haven’t already! This noodle soup variation originates from the Yunnan province in China. For me, crossing-the-bridge-noodle-soup is like a mini hot pot experience. Flavourful broth is served piping hot in a large pot and accompanied with a variety of toppings/ingredients. Upon being served, you have all the ingredients “cross the bridge” into the pot – i.e. put all ingredients into the pot along with your rice noodles (often times with unlimited refills) and enjoy! Here are 3 spots where you can find Crossing-the-bridge noodle soup in Edmonton.

Dagu Rice Noodle
10408 Jasper Ave

Dagu Rice Noodle was the first brand to offer crossing-the-bridge noodles in Edmonton. This spot is spacious and centrally located. They have a variety of broth options for crossing-the-bridge noodle soup and also offer many other soup noodle options, in general. My go-to broth has always been the tomato broth! I also highly recommend trying the drinks out at Dagu! Their bubble tea and mixed drinks are fantastic and I love that they come up with new seasonal items regularly.

Yunshang Rice Noodle
10167 109 St

Yunshang Rice Noodle is the latest chain to open in Edmonton with a specialty in crossing-the-bridge-noodle-soup. Famously known for soups, they too also have some different broth options to choose from. Aside from their noodle soup options, they serve other mains like rice/noodle dishes and have a number of delicious appetizers as well. I always enjoy their popcorn chicken and would recommend trying their cold dishes, like the beef with chilli sauce and cilantro. Plus their desserts and drinks have always been a great accompaniment to our meals, the Coconut Lava Balls are a must try. Overall, you can definitely expect a well-rounded meal here.

Shimiaodao Yunnan Rice Noodle
8613 109 St

Located nearby Whyte Ave, Shimiaodao is a smaller shop that has a menu focusing on these delicious noodle soups. Their interior is nice but compared to other businesses, it is a more intimate location. Nonetheless, if you’re in the mood for some crossing-the-bridge-noodles, this is another option to add to your list. My go to choice always seems to be the tomato broth, which didn’t disappoint when I visited here.

All in all, you can’t go wrong with any of these great restaurant picks. Crossing-the-bridge-noodle-soup is a fun experience that is sure to hit the spot for when you have those noodle cravings. Hope you find an opportunity to try one of these spots!
