Where to Find Delicious Açaí Bowls in Edmonton

If you’ve been craving açaí bowls in Edmonton lately, you’re not alone. The city has definitely gained some açaí-focused spots and as someone who loves a good refreshing bowl, I’ve made it my mission to try them all.

If you’re new to açaí (pronounced ah-sigh-ee), it’s a Brazilian berry blended into a thick, smoothie-like base. It’s naturally a little tart (not overly sweet) and typically topped with granola, fresh fruit, nut butters, and other superfoods. Think smoothie bowl… but colder, thicker, and way more satisfying. I think açaí has really gained popularity over time since it’s known for being a nutrient-dense “superfood” that is high in antioxidants and fibre.

Whether you’re in your wellness era, looking for a lighter meal, or just want something cold and refreshing (especially with warmer days ahead), açaí is definitely worth trying.

Here are four açaí spots in Edmonton I’ve personally visited, and how they compare in taste, portion size, customization, and overall vibes.

Tupi Açaí Bowls (My Go-To)

200 Festival Lane, Unit 150, Sherwood Park

Starting off strong with my personal favourite: Tupi Bowls. I first discovered them at the Downtown Farmers’ Market a few years ago, and since then they’ve expanded to a storefront in Sherwood Park, Calgary, and soon – another Edmonton location.

Bowls start at around $10 for a small (8 oz) – which is always more than enough for myself – and one of the biggest perks here is the flexibility. You’re not limited to just açaí, you can choose from bases like dragon fruit, cupuaçu, passion fruit, strawberry, or mango. I usually go half cupuaçu, half açaí for the best of both worlds.

The other perk is the toppings…unlimited toppings! I personally keep it simple with 3–4 toppings max, but if you’re the type to load it up, this is your place. The staff once told me one of the authentic Brazillian ways to enjoy açaí is with fruit, milk powder and condensed milk, which was delicious.

Texture-wise, this is what keeps me coming back. Their açaí is thick, smooth, and more sorbet-like – not runny – so it actually holds up while you eat it. Bonus: they sell pints, which I love keeping at home for when the cravings hit.

They also offer smoothies, handcrafted gelato, and light snacks. Overall, an easy go-to for a refreshing treat.

Liv Bowl’d (Simple & Pre-Built)

3696 97 St NW (Inside Bountiful Farmer’s Market)

Another local favourite is Liv Bowl’d. You’ll sometimes find their food truck around the city in the warmer months, or you can visit them year-round at the Bountiful Farmers’ Market.

What makes Liv Bowl’d different is their pre-built menu. Instead of customizing everything, you choose from curated bowls… which honestly can be a plus if you don’t want decision fatigue.

A mini bowl starts at around $11.50. My go-to is the Bliss Bowl, which comes with granola, banana, strawberries, goji berries, cacao nibs, coconut, and honey.

Their açaí also leans thick and sorbet-like (which I prefer), and everything feels thoughtfully put together. You can also grab a smoothie while you’re there.

Less customizable, but consistently solid and never disappoints.

Oakberry (Convenient, But more Commercial)

10406 Whyte Ave NW or in WEM 8882 170 St NW (2nd level by T&T)

Oakberry is a global açaí chain, and I actually had my first one in Portugal, so it was fun to see them pop up in Edmonton.

Oakberry Menu

They currently have locations on Whyte Ave and inside West Edmonton Mall (near T&T Supermarket), making them one of the more conveniently located options in the city.

Bowls (or cups) start at $12.99 for 12 oz, and you can choose between build-your-own or signature options. Like Tupi, they offer unlimited toppings! Their cups are layered making each bite balanced, though I find some inconsistencies in the layering sometimes. Nonetheless, their portion sizes are very large and easy for sharing.

That said, this is where things feel a bit more commercial. The açaí is dispensed from a soft-serve machine and made in larger batches, so the texture is noticeably softer and more melty. It still satisfies the craving, but if you don’t eat it quickly, it can turn a bit watery.

They also have other drinks and smoothies on the menu. I’ll be transparent and say I wasn’t a fan of their matcha but I will stop by for their acai if I’m nearby – I tend to prefer other spots when I’m specifically craving that thicker, more natural texture.

HEAL Wellness

Multiple locations – North Edmonton, University of Alberta and Sherwood Park (view locations here).

HEAL Wellness is an Ontario-based chain that’s expanded across Edmonton. They’re known for their açaí bowls, smoothies, and superfood-focused menu.

Their bowls are definitely picture-ready and filled, you get a mix of toppings and base in every bite. Pricing starts a bit higher (around $13.50), and while I haven’t gone back as often as the others, my experience here was fine – their açaí bowls are still going to satisfy if you’re craving for one.

The menu leans heavily into nutrient-dense ingredients, so you’ll also find smoothies, protein shakes, and other “superfood” options here too.

If you’re looking for something that feels modern and health-forward, consider HEAL Wellness.

Final Thoughts: Which Acai Spot is Best?

If I had to rank them based on my personal preferences:

  • Best overall texture & customization: Tupi Bowls
  • Best for convenience & quick options: Oakberry
  • Best pre-built bowls: Liv Bowl’d
  • Best aesthetic & wellness vibe: HEAL Wellness

At the end of the day, it really comes down to what you’re looking for – whether it’s full customization, convenience, or just a good, refreshing bowl.
