Brew + Bloom Cafe

Edmontonians will soon have another cafe to check out! Brew + Bloom is set to open their doors on Feburary 26 but I had a chance to preview the space and menu recently. It is one of the most beautiful cafes I’ve ever been in and it definitely tops the cake for being Insta-worthy. Everything from the decor to the food is aesthetically pleasing. You can really tell how much attention to detail was put into everything. I can see this becoming a very popular and well-sought out space!

Brew + Bloom is a locally run, women-owned company that originally started out as an online retailer for florals and gifts. Their cafe space has been a work in progress and it is so exciting to finally see it come to life! Along with their products, their cafe menu is all based on fresh florals and quality ingredients. Their vision to promote wellness by providing nourishing foods is definitely evident as every dish has refreshing, light, and healthy elements.

Disclaimer: I was invited to Brew + Bloom Cafe for a media preview. All items were compensated, but there was no expectation of a blog post and all opinions are my own.

When you step into the cafe, you will be immediately greeted with the most stunning floral installation. I expected nothing short of extravagant as they are floral specialists, after all! One section of the space is reserved for retail and merchandise, don’t forget to take a peek at their products for a special gift for yourself or others.

All cafe staples are available here – coffees, teas, lattes, baked goods and pastries etc. Most of their baked goods and pastries are sourced from local businesses. I sampled a bunch of items but particularly enjoyed their branded sugar cookies and london fog latte. I’m excited to come back to try more of their drinks.

The food menu will have rotating items but I had the opportunity to try a salad, tartine, and some larger plates. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t expecting too much from their dishes as I find that a lot of places that look amazing fall short food-wise. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy everything was. While I can’t say I’d come just solely based on food, I did enjoy the dishes provided and would say it was so much better than anticipated. Their salad and tartine were especially good – lots of depth in flavour and definitely refreshing and healthy (there is even edible flowers!).

The Marigold featured butternut squash ravioli topped with sage roasted squash, goat cheese, and toasted pumpkin seeds. I liked this dish too! It was nice and creamy and the roasted squash really stood out.

The Empress Bowl is Brew + Bloom’s take on pho. It features beet infused rice noodles, sliced beef, and your usual toppings of onion and cilantro. While there isn’t a beet taste, the pink noodles sure made the bowl look prettier than your average bowl of pho. The broth itself is a bit lighter but still quite tasty. Any fat is skimmed off so the broth is clean and non-greasy, fitting with the “healthy” theme as Their pho is based off a family recipe which makes it extra special but the coolest part of this dish is that it was also interactive! The broth is served on the side in a teapot and you can pour it in yourself.

All dishes here were delicious in their own way but portion sizes are on the smaller side, as they are a cafe. So, I do recommend ordering for yourself rather than sharing if you are looking to fill up!

My visit was finished off with a Cloud Latte, which was essentially an iced coffee that was topped off with a cloud of cotton candy. Once you pour your espresso shot in, the cotton candy dissolves into your latte and you can use your flower as a stir stick. The latte itself was sweet, smooth, and had lots of floral hints. Though I am not normally a big fan of floral drinks, I would definitely consider ordering it again.

All in all, Brew + Bloom totally exceeded my expectations! I think pictures speak for themselves and display how gorgeous the space and food is. While food and drinks were good, it was definitely the experience of it all – food, drinks, decor, and service – that made my visit memorable. If you’re looking for a new cafe to check out, consider Brew + Bloom as your next spot. I recommend making a reservation if you can, as seating is limited. Big thank you to the owners of Brew + Bloom for inviting me for a preview, I look forward to coming back!
