During the cold weather, I truly think Thai food is one of the best remedies. It’s one of my favourite comfort cuisines, and this craving led me to finally try Siam Thai Kitchen! Impressively, they have four locations:
- 2 locations in north Edmonton (15883 116 Ave NW & 242 Mistatim Rd – St. Albert Trail)
- 1 location in Sherwood Park (205 Festival Way)
- 1 express location in Edmonton City Centre
With this many locations across the Edmonton area, I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to visit. For this meal, I checked out their newer Sherwood Park location.

This spot won an award for Best Thai Restaurant in Sherwood Park! The space felt warm and inviting, with bold red walls and large Buddha adornments that give it that cozy, old-school Thai restaurant charm. Here are my thoughts on everything that we tried.
Must-Order Appetizer: Crab Rangoon

To start, I think the Crab Rangoon ($9.98) is a must-order appetizer. These crispy wontons filled with cream cheese, crab, garlic and onions were perfectly fried and super satisfying! My only wish? A little more filling inside but honestly, not a dealbreaker. I could easily eat multiple orders of this. If you’re looking for a safe, crowd-pleasing starter, this is the dish!
Warm Up with Thai Soup
You can’t go to a Thai restaurant without ordering a curry or soup, at least in my opinion. This visit, we were craving a soup and ordered the Coconut Soup ($18.98), which comes in a generous portion with your choice of meat, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions.

The broth leaned more sour than I personally prefer for coconut soup. I was craving something richer and creamier. If I revisit, I’d try the spicy version or opt for Tom Yum soup instead for a slightly different flavour profile. Still, if you love tangy soups, this might be up your alley.
So Many Thai Noodle Options
There were quite a few noodle dishes to choose from at Siam Thai Kitchen. My friend and I went with the Pad See Ew ($21.98) with beef. This classic Thai noodle dish features rice noodles stir-fried with your choice of protein, eggs, broccoli, carrots and yu-choy. It’s one of my favourite Thai noodle dishes.

The one at Siam Thai Kitchen was on the sweeter side. I did wish there was a bit more cohesiveness in the dish, maybe a saucier stir-fry with a deeper, richer flavour. That said, not a bad choice if you’re craving rice noodles. Next time, I’d probably explore another noodle option on their menu just to compare.
Pad Kra Pao (Thai Basil Beef) – Rare Find in Edmonton?
In my opinion, Pad Kra Pao (Thai basil beef) is such an underrated Thai dish. It’s a popular Thai street food that I first tried at a Thai restaurant in Toronto, and I’ve loved it ever since. I’ve even attempted to recreate it at home but without that high-heat restaurant wok, it just doesn’t hit the same. I also haven’t tried or seen Pad Kra Pao at many restaurants in Edmonton, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it here for $21.98.

This ended up being one of my favourite dishes of our meal! It had the ideal kick of spice, that sticky, umami-rich flavour and a perfectly crispy fried egg on top. Paired with coconut rice, it was comforting and flavourful – definitely a dish that I would order again. Heads up that rice is not included with the stir-fry and is an additional order. If you’re browsing the menu and want something beyond the usual Pad Thai, give Pad Kra Pao a try.
Leave room for dessert
I was happy to see a few dessert options on the menu, so I’m telling you ahead of time – save room for dessert! All of the choices sounded quite good but our server sold us on the Sweet Roti ($9.98), saying it’s one of their best sellers. The roti is served warm with condensed milk and a dusting of sugar. There is also an option to get this with Nutella.
Honestly it’s a simple dessert, but sometimes simple is exactly what you need. Lightly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and just sweet enough to end the meal on a high note. I can see why it’s their best seller.

I also tried the Thai Iced Tea ($5.98) here which wasn’t bad. If you want to try something different, there are also a variety of mocktails on their menu.
Is Siam Thai Kitchen Worth It?
Siam Thai Kitchen offers a wide variety of classic Thai dishes, making it approachable whether you’re new to Thai food or already a fan. With multiple locations in Edmonton and Sherwood Park, it’s easy to see why this is a popular spot for Thai cuisine in the city! Service was friendly and prompt, despite there only being one server. Fun tidbit – they also have a “robot” server for assistance, which was neat to see.

My honest take overall? It’s a solid contender and worth trying, especially if you live nearby or are exploring new Thai restaurants in Edmonton. I’d consider returning to try more dishes, perhaps a curry and another noodle option, and get some more crab rangoon! That said though… I’m not in a huge rush to revisit, it doesn’t quite take over my personal go-to Thai spot (you can check out that blog post here 😉).

What can I say? I love trying new places, but I’m also loyal to my favourites. If you have a favourite Thai restaurant in Edmonton, let me know! I’m always looking for my next food stop.
