Scoop n Roll

There’s not much to say about Scoop n Roll other than letting you know that it really is worth the hype. Scoop n Roll Creamery isn’t necessarily a new addition to the Edmonton food scene but it is a new addition to Southside Edmonton. It also definitely makes it feel like summer is finally here.

Scoop n Roll  is basically a food truck specializing in ice cream that is made right in front of you and then served as rolls with mix ins and toppings. They recently opened up another location in southside Edmonton, right on Gateway Blvd beside mini-golfing and the bowling lanes. When I found out, I was ecstatic! We came on a Friday night during a warm day so it was to no surprise that the line up was ridiculously long… but it was worth it.

The menu has quite a variety and as an ice cream fanatic, I was a little overwhelmed with having to pick only 1 flavour and 2 mix ins, without having to pay extra .. 😛 There’s one size for the bowls ($7) and you can pay extra for more toppings or their premium toppings.

I ended up ordering the Matcha Green Tea with Oreo and Chocolate Chip. It was creamy and perfect for the hot weather. I would definitely order this combo again and (surprisingly) opt for just 1 mix-in instead of 2. However, I think I’d probably have to share my bowl with somebody the next time I go because one serving was huge! I pretty much felt ice cream sick after finishing the bowl, not because it was gross but because I literally just had too much ice cream lol.

We waited for a little longer than an hour but the staff were extremely friendly and outgoing. Seeing the ice cream made in front of me was really neat and it was definitely a unique experience. I can only imagine how sore they must be after making all those bowls!

I also tried the Pistachio with Chocolate and Butterscotch Chips (top right) and Vanilla with Oreo and Rainbow Sprinkles (top left). Of all the combos we had, I think mine was still my favourite 🙂

I know that this won’t be my only visit to Scoop n Roll over the summer. As a thai tea lover, I am definitely heading back to try that flavour! I highly recommend trying them out if you’re able to. If you’re trying to avoid a line, I assume that going during the week or on cooler days, would be better.
