5 Reasons why you should try Fresh Prep!

Grocery shopping and meal planning is all fun and games until life gets busy! One of the weekly challenges I deal with is figuring out what the heck to cook. I normally enjoy this process but sometimes life gets crazy so I love having some convenience on hand. This is why I’ve tried various meal kit services but today I’m writing about one in particular: Fresh Prep!

Though I am partnering with Fresh Prep for this post, I can honestly say they are my favourite meal kit service to date! Having had the opportunity to try them out over the past few weeks, here are 5 reasons why you should try Fresh Prep.

1. The Convenience of everything is just the start

The best perk of most meal kit services is. of course, the convenience of it all. You save time from meal planning with just a few clicks… and can even pre-select meals for your next 4 weeks. Time spent grocery shopping is taken away by having everything delivered to you… and of course, meal prepping becomes almost non-existent when ingredients are ready to cook. Fresh Prep is the first kit I’ve seen that has taken the extra step with pre-portioned and pre-chopped ingredients. They’ve gone as far as providing minced garlic and portioned out spices and sauces, for instance! There are some recipes that might require a bit of prep (washing/chopping) still but it’s been very minimal compared to others I’ve tried.

2. They are committed to reducing waste

Fresh Prep is a certified B Corporation and works hard to ensure they conduct business in the interests of the planet, people and profit. Unique to Fresh Prep is the fact that they are truly committed to reducing waste as demonstrated by their ability to deliver everything sustainably and by offering Zero Waste Kits (which I’ve been especially loving!!).

Recipes are delivered in reusable cooler bags, eliminating the need for extra packaging while keeping your ingredients safe and fresh. Some recipes are also considered Zero Waste, meaning that they come in reusable containers that can be picked up during your next delivery. They are then sanitized and reused for future orders, creating a sustainably system and cycle. How neat!

3. Locally sourced

I feel that ingredients in meal kits can be a hit or miss sometimes but with Fresh Prep, I’ve had no issues! Everything delivered to me has been super fresh and it’s great knowing that they also prioritize working with local businesses in the communities they serve. By prioritizing local and working with the community, this also adds to their sustainable and quality business practices by reducing the amount of time that food travels to the customer.

4. Their selection of recipes are diverse, easy to follow and taste good

With Fresh Prep, I find there is a good variety in their selection of recipes for each week. There are options for all dietary needs and you can also customize recipes to your preferences in some instances. What I like most, though, is how recipes are chef-created and internationally-inspired… aka there is diversity!! The recipes do not just taste like variations of each other and most importantly, they reflect authentic flavours and come with authentic ingredients. Though some recipes are new-to-me, they are easy to make with the step-by-step recipe cards. Best of all, everything has been tasty and satisfying. No boring dinners around here.

Fresh Prep also offers add-ons such as baked goods, salads, pre-made meals, and more, so that you can even take care of those in between meals and snacks.

5. Customer experience

As a cherry on top to everything, one aspect of Fresh Prep that has really stood out to me is also their customer service experience. I found their website to be super user friendly and easy to navigate. Whether it was selecting recipes, skipping meals, or just finding information and customer support – they truly have the gold standard! On the ground, they have their own fleet of drivers and delivery notifications are all sent in-house meaning you receive timely updates regarding your delivery. I love that they have a phone number that you can also text in real time for assistance and I have used it myself! Recently, the address on my delivery was incorrect and I was able to get support to get it quickly corrected even though the delivery driver was already enroute.
